Campus Card Services produces and manages the university card program for six University of Maine System campuses, including the University of Maine School of Law and oversees an array of services, access management, and purchasing privileges. The goal is to support, develop and provide amenities for campuses with the intent of improving access and services for the safety and convenience of the University community.
The primary responsibility for university card access is managed by USM designated leadership

Card Eligibility for Students
- A student must be registered for the current or upcoming semester
- Have a Mainestreet student ID number
- Have a university email address
- Show a government issued photo ID
Card Eligibility for Faculty & Staff
- An employee must be in an active employment status within Mainestreet.
- If active status is not in Mainestreet, they must provide a letter of employment.
- Card Services will contact HR or payroll services for employee verification if required.
- Have a university email address.
- Show a government issued photo ID
- Verify eligibility with Card Services staff member before printing
Card Eligibility for Alumni, Retiree, & Professor Emerita/Emeritus
- Verify status within Mainestreet
- If applicable, old University ID card must be turned into Card Services
Card Eligibility for Olli Students
- They have to be currently registered as an OLLI and Person of Interest in Mainestreet
- Once verified, OLLI student card is printed using a desfire card
Card Eligibility for Husky Bucks for OLLI Students
- To be eligible for University Bucks, verify OLLI student has PSID & University email
- Verify PSID & university email in Mainestreet
- If record is not in Mainestreet, contact OLLI for verification

Card Eligibility for USM Public Safety Identification cards
- To ensure security and safety, all USM Public Safety badges will be printed by request only to card.services@maine.edu
- Must be requested by USM Deputy Chief of Police or Chief of Police

Preferred Name Eligibility
- Preferred names are automatically printed on your University card unless otherwise specified
- Preferred names are driven from your MaineStreet account
- Patrons are allowed one(1) free preferred first name change for lifetime
Card Holder Responsibility
- Never loan ID cards to another person for card access
- Never prop open doors
- Never admit unauthorized people into buildings
- Report lost or stolen ID cards immediately to your local campus Card office.
- Follow all rules and regulations of the University when accessing a facility after regular hours of operation
Lost, Damaged, or Stolen Cards
- Lost or stolen cards should be disabled immediately via your eAccounts app or web portal.
- Damaged and non-functioning cards must be replaced
- There is a $20.00 replacement fee for lost, stolen or damaged cards.
