How do I work on Projects in the TeamDynamix Client Portal?

The IT Project Management Office uses TeamDynamix for project management activities. 

Project Resources who do not have access to TDNext can work on projects through the UMS Service portal.

Instructions

  1. Access the UMS Services Portal IT Landing Page
  2. Select the Sign In Link in the upper left and authenticate with your maine.edu username and password
  3. If you have been added as a Project Resource, "Projects" will show in the upper menu bar as shown below.  Select Projects.  (If you do not have this option, please contact the project manager on the project for which you are a resource)

  1. You will see a list of all projects that are either set as visible to the Public or that have you listed as a sponsor or stakeholder. Select the project that you wish to work on.

  1. As a Project Resource, you will see several options to work on the project. In the example below, all possible options are listed and described. Some options may not be used for all projects based on how the project is configured.
    • If you do not have any of these options and believe you should, please contact the Project Manager.

  • Details
    • General information about the project including current status and update notes.
  • Feed
    • "Audit" log for the project shows the history of edits and updates to the project.
  • Announcements
    • General announcements about the project. 
    • As a project resource you can add announcements by selecting the +New button 
  • Briefcase
    • Reference files that have been attached to the project.
    • As a project resource, you can add to the folder structure and add files via upload from your computer or from Google Drive or OneDrive.
  • Calendar
    • Events and tasks for this project displayed in a calendar format
  • Contacts
    • Contact information for all project resources, contacts, project managers, and stakeholders that have been added to the project.
    • As a project resource, you can add a Contact by selecting the +New button.  This SHOULD NOT be used to add contacts who are associated with the University of Maine System as it may create a duplicate record.
  • Issues
    • Log of items identified during the project
    • In TeamDynamix "Issues" may be
      • Change
      • Decision
      • Error/Bug
      • Issue/Problem
      • Lesson Learned
      • Question
    • As a project resource, you may add an issue by selecting the +New button. 
    • You may also provide update and comments on existing issues by selecting the issue to open the detail window.
  • Risks
    • Log of Threats or Opportunities identified during the project
    • As a project resource, you may add a risk by selecting the +New button. 
    • You may also provide update and comments on existing risks by selecting the issue to open the detail window.
  • Links
    • Links associated with the project. 
    • This may include links to folders for shared files, access links for applications, links to external support sites, etc.
    • As a project resource, you may add a link by selecting the +New button. 
  • Plans
    • Plans are the work structure for the project.
    • A project may have multiple plans
    • If a plan task has been assigned to you, it will be listed at the top of the screen under Plans. By selecting a task that is assigned to you and opening the detail window, you can provide updates and add comments to the task.  When providing an Update, you can mark the task as completed if appropriate.
    • To see tasks NOT assigned to you, select the plan then the task.  You may add comments to tasks that are not assigned to you, but not update the task or mark it as complete.
