The EEAAP is a commonly used tool at universities to create and document a plan for providing equally effective alternatives when a Digital Technology can not be made directly accessible to persons with disabilities.
INFO: An "Equally Effective Alternative" provides persons with disabilities the opportunity to acquire the same information, engage in the same interactions, and enjoy the same services as a person without a disability in an equally effective and equally integrated manner, with substantially equivalent ease of use.
Instructions
- Detailed instructions are included in the EEAAP template.
- The form submitter:
- is encouraged to consult with their campus disability services provider or Human Resources for suggestions and informal review while developing the EEAAP.
- seeks approvals for the EEAAP from their supervisor or department head, and records the approver's name and date on the EEAAP form.
- seels approved from their Campus Disability Services office (if the technology is used by students), and records the approver's name and date on the EEAAP form.
- The submitter sends the completed EEAAP with campus approvals to the system ADA Coordinator at adacoordinator@maine.edu.
- The ADA Coordinator reviews the EEAAP and directs questions as needed.
- The ADA Coordinator informs the submitter and stakeholders of the outcome of their review of the EEAAP
