Detailed Information

Overview

  • All Eligible Riders have full METRO access during normal METRO business hours
  • If a card is denied entry to METRO, proceed to the Troubleshooting section at the bottom of the page

  • Old Orchard

Eligible Riders - All eligible riders must have an active University Card

INFO: Rider eligibility is determined by the USM METRO Contract & the USM Vice Provost of Student Affairs
  • All riders must present their active Campus Card to gain entry

    • Law School Staff/Faculty

USM Campus boarding & off-boarding locations

INFO: If boarding on a USM campus or less than a month since the issue date, your card will be accepted
  • Gorham

    • Boarding & off-boarding: Bailey Hall Bus Stop
      • 37 College Ave, Gorham, Maine 04038
  • Portland

INFO: Portland METRO has multiple stops
  • Portland to West (To outside of Portland, Westbrook, and Gorham campus)
    • Boarding: West bound bus shelter
      • Masterton Side
  • Portland to East (To The METRO Hub for connecting lines)
    • off-boarding: East bound bus shelter
      • In front of Abromson center & Parking Garage

Troubleshooting

  • Damaged Card

    • Card may be damaged (common) or malfunctioning (rare), but this should result in a "No Read" not a denied message
    • Cracks are easily found by apply strong pressure with your thumb, and running your thumb along the edges of the card
      • Cracks can be extremely small, and hard to see without physical intervention
  • No longer an active Student or Faculty/Staff

    • Check eligibility in MaineStreet - Enrolled in classes for current semester, or active employment

  • The card is too old for the METRO system

    • If the 16 digit card number starts with "603....." the card will need to be replaced at no cost
