How to find your computer's name on Windows or MacOS.
Instructions
For Windows
Using System Settings
- Right-click on the Start button
- Select System
- Your computer's name will be located under "Device name"
Using Command Prompt
- Click on the Start button.
- In search box type "cmd" then press Enter.
- In the black background window that appears, type "hostname" and press Enter.
- Your computer hostname will be displayed on the next line.

For MacOS
Using System Settings
- Click the Apple menu
- Select System Settings
- Click General in the sidebar
- Click About on the right
Using the Terminal
- Open a Terminal window. You can find it under launchpad or you can use Spotlight Search.
- Type in "hostname" and hit the Return key.
- Your Mac's hostname is on the first line.
