Instructions

For Windows

Using System Settings

  1. Right-click on the Start button
  2. Select System
  3. Your computer's name will be located under "Device name"

Using Command Prompt

  1. Click on the Start button.
  2. In search box type "cmd" then press Enter.
  3. In the black background window that appears, type "hostname" and press Enter.
  4. Your computer hostname will be displayed on the next line.

For MacOS

Using System Settings

  1. Click the Apple menu
  2. Select System Settings
  3. Click General in the sidebar
  4. Click About on the right

Using the Terminal

  1. Open a Terminal window. You can find it under launchpad or you can use Spotlight Search.
  2. Type in "hostname" and hit the Return key.
  3. Your Mac's hostname is on the first line.
