Body
This will outline the details and basic tips and tricks for operating the equipment in the event rooms of Portland campus' Abromson building, located in rooms 109 & 110.
Details
Abromson 109 & 110 are two connected event rooms located on the USM Portland Campus. These rooms may be separated by a partition wall, or may be used together as a larger singular room. You can operate most of the audiovisual (AV) equipment from the controllers located to the right of each of the dry-erase boards. Other pieces of in-room equipment include:
- Computer
- LCD Projector
- Laptop Connection (HDMI & VGA)
- Speakers
Operating the Equipment
In the case of both rooms, most of the equipment can be controlled by separate controllers located to the right of the dry erase boards. If you are using both rooms at the same time, you can choose which controller you want to use. This will depend on which direction you would like your audience to be facing for your presentation.
- The top left Display buttons allows you to turn the system on or off, including the projector and the speakers.
- The bottom left Volume dial allows you to control the volume of the room's speakers.
- The right side of the plate has a series of Inputs that you can select to connect to the system's speakers and projector. In descending order, your options are:
- PC connects the in-room PC. You can turn this PC on and retrieve the keyboard and mouse from one of the cabinets near the door to room.
- Laptop connects to the device currently connected to the system via an HDMI or VGA connection. These cables and their connection ports should be located underneath the dry erase board.
- DVD/VCR connects to the DVD/VCR unit, also located in the computer cabinet.
- Screen Control (Not pictured above): In both rooms, there is a second, smaller controller. In room 109, this is located to the left of the dry erase board. In room 110, this will be located to the right of the first controller. This controls the projector screen.
- You can use the up and down arrows to raise and lower the screen, respectively.
- You can press stop to pause the screen while it is raising or lowering.
When you are finished using the room's equipment, best practice is to power everything down before you leave. If you used the in-room PC, please shut that down first. If you used the projector screen, hit the up arrow to bring the screen back up. Finally, hit the Off button on the controller to power down the speakers and the projector.
