Accessing the Listserv Web Portal
Listserv's web interface can be found at: https:lists.maine.edu
Before you can do anything on the site, you will need to get a Listserv password for yourself. Listserv is not a single sign-on site. Click the “Log In” link in the upper right corner of the landing page and you will see the log in window.

To create a password click on “Register Password.” A confirmation message will be emailed to you with further instructions. If you ever forget your Listserv password, you can simply go click “Forgot Password?” to enter a new one.

Once you have a password, managing your list really boils down to three things:
Find Out Who's on the List

-
You can delete subscribers from this page, also.
-
If you would like you can download a file listing subscribers by selecting “CSV Format” from the dropdown under “Report Format:”
Add People to the List
-
There are several areas where you can add subscribers to your list. It is recommended that you do all subscriber functions in the “Subscriber Reports” area.
-
Choose “List Management” > "Subscriber Reports” in the left column.
-
Use the dropdown list to choose the list you want to examine.
-
Use the “Add
Subscriber” field to add a single subscriber’s email address and optionally the subscribers name. There should be one space between the address and the name. Examples are listed on the page.
Bulk Operations

Remove People from the List
-
Go to the “Subscriber Management” page and select the correct list.
-
From the subscriber table or by using the search functions, check the box to the leftof subscribers to be removed.
-
Click “Delete Subscribers.”

By Email
You can also manage your list entirely by sending commands to listserv@lists.usm.maine.edu. When you send email commands to Listserv, confirmation is generally required. This is to protect against someone spoofing your email address. After issuing a command, you will receive an email that contains a URL that you will need to click on to confirm/complete your command.
There are three basic tasks involved in managing a list:
Find out who's on the list:
Add people to the list.
-
Compose a new email to listserv@lists.maine.edu.
-
Subject: (does not matter)
-
Body: ADD listname email fullname (for example, ADD ums-l-fdoe@maine.edu Fred Doe)
-
Click send.
Remove people from the list.
-
Compose a new email to listserv@lists.maine.edu.
-
Subject: (does not matter)
-
Body: DELETE listname email (for example, DEL ums-l fdoe@maine.edu
-
(Optional) precede the DELETE command with the word QUIET to avoid sending the user any notification. This is useful when deleting a bad address from the list. (For example, QUIET DELETE ums-l fdoe@me.edu .)
- Click send.
You can combine any number of REVIEW, ADD and DELETE commands in the body of a single email. You might do this, for instance, to QUIET DELETE a bad address and ADD the corrected address in one step.
