When users change/update their names or university email addresses, this does not automatically reflect on their Zoom Desktop Application. To remedy this, please follow the steps below:
Instructions
- Once you have completed your name update with Student Records and/or Human Resources and updated your account email address (optional),
- Change your name on the Zoom web portal
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal, as shown here: Zoom: Logging in via a web browser
- In the navigation menu, click Profile.
- By your account profile name, click Edit.
- For your account profile name, enter your First Name and Last Name.
- For your Display Name, enter a name (e.g. your first name, full name, or nickname) that will be shown to others on Zoom.
- Click Save.
- To Update this on your Zoom Client, please try logging out of the Zoom Desktop App, and then force quit the application.

On Mac:
- Click the Apple icon in the upper-left corner
- Choose “Force Quit” from the drop-down
- You will be directed to a new window called “Force Quit Application”
- Select the Zoom App and tap “Force Quit”.

On Windows:
- Open the Extended apps on the taskbar,
- Right-click on Zoom, and Click Exit.

Once you have signed out and Quit the Zoom App, Please Restart the app from your applications list, and sign back in.
