Issue / Question

How do I put a call on hold or resume it in the Webex App on desktop?

Solution

Place a Call on Hold

  1. While on an active call, click the More (⋯) button in the call window.
  2. Select Hold from the menu.
  3. The call will now show as “On Hold” in your Webex window or Spaces list.
    • The other person will hear hold music until you resume or transfer the call.

Resume the Call

  1. Go to the held call (it will display “On Hold”).
  2. Click Resume to reconnect with the caller.

Transfer the Call Instead

  1. While the call is on hold, click More (⋯) again.
  2. Select Transfer.
  3. Search for or choose the person you want to transfer the call to.
  4. Once connected, you can either announce the transfer or complete it directly.

Quick Tips

  • If you minimize the call window, look for the call labelled “On Hold” in your Spaces list.
  • You can’t hang up a call while it’s on hold — you must resume it first.
  • You can only place one call on hold at a time per line.
  • When managing multiple calls, you can hold one and answer another, then switch back using Resume.
  • Webex automatically mutes you while a call is on hold — make sure your headset or microphone stays active when resuming.

Environment

  • Webex App (desktop)
  • Windows or Mac
