Adjusting Audio Settings in Webex Calling (Desktop)

Summary

Learn how to set up, test, and adjust your audio devices (headset, speakers, or microphone) in Webex Calling (Desktop) to ensure clear sound during calls.

Body

Change Your Audio Settings

  1. In the Webex desktop app, click Settings (bottom left, above Help).
  2. Select the Audio tab.
  3. Under Speaker and Microphone, choose your preferred devices:
    • For wired headsets, select your USB or 3.5mm headset from the list.
    • For Bluetooth, make sure it’s paired and connected before opening Webex, then select it here.
  4. Click Test next to the speaker option to check sound.
  5. Speak into your mic to confirm the input level bar moves — that means it’s working.
INFO: If you plug in or connect a new headset after opening Webex, the app might not switch automatically. Revisit Settings → Audio and select it manually.

Mute and Unmute

  • When a call comes in, select Answer.
  • After answering, the call window opens with available controls.
  • Click the microphone icon in the call window.
    • Mute / Unmute: Turn your microphone on or off.
      • If you’re using a headset with built-in controls, you can use the mute button on the headset.
    • Audio Source Selection: Choose your input and output devices.
    • Noise Removal Options:
      • Standard: Reduces background noise such as typing or pets.
      • Optimize for My Voice: Removes other voices in busy environments like coffee shops.
      • Music Mode: Disables noise removal so music and full-range audio can pass through.
    • Keypad: Enter digits such as extensions or menu inputs.
