Who Is Eligible for Entra MFA

All UMS users, including students, are currently eligible to enroll in Entra MFA if they would like to, though it is not yet required for everyone. Students required to enroll will be notified by email.

Already Enrolled in Duo MFA?

  • Yes: No action is needed right now. You can continue using Duo.
  • No: Use Microsoft Entra MFA. See "How to Enroll" below.

How to Check Your Enrollment Status

  1. Go to My Security Info.
  2. Sign in with your University of Maine System (UMS) email and password.
  3. Review the list of sign-in methods:
    • If no method is listed, you will be prompted to add one, since accessing this page requires MFA.
    • If UMS MFA (external mfa) is listed, you are enrolled in Duo MFA.
    • If a method other than UMS MFA (external mfa) and Password is listed, such as the Microsoft Authenticator app or a passkey, you are enrolled in Entra MFA.
