Available and Fully Supported
Course Merchant is the e-commerce platform used in conjunction with the UMS Learning Management System, Brightspace. The plaform allows for the creation of courses and programs that can be sold (or provided for free) to learners outside of the courses offered as part of the traditional academic programming of the University. This can be potentially used for a number of scenarios, including lifelong learning, workforce development, micro-credentialing, and community development. Currently, Course Merchant is being used to support the discover.maine.edu e-commerce site which was cooperatively developed by UMaine Cooperative Extension, MaineLaw, Maine Business School, and UMS Microcredentialing. Additional e-commerce sites can be added to the platform, at a cost to develop.
