Purpose: Pre-stamps and Post-stamps generally provide detailed location information within more general areas such as Special Collections. Below is a comprehensive list of all call number pre-stamps, post-stamps, and special local call number types used for items cataloged by Fogler Library.
Pre-stamps
Pre-stamps are entered before/above an LC call number. In most cases, the pre-stamp is added to the call number field in URSUS. In a few cases, the pre-stamp is not added in URSUS, but is added to the call number label (see below). See notes for ordering of multiple pre-stamps.

Special call number types
The following terms are not prestamps but prefixes for local call number systems. Follow each link to the appropriate procedures page.
Notes
Folio is applied to all books, including art books, over 30 cm. in either dimension. Exceptions:
- Music scores (LC class numbers M1-M5000): the dividing line is 36 cm. rather than 30 cm.
- Folio is not used for juvenile books.
When an oversize book requires a location prestamp, the location prestamp should come first, then the word “Folio,” then the call number. For example:

Rare is placed before Maine for items that overlap the two collections. For example:
