Physical Book Processing (Stacks)

Body

Purpose:

Finish processing physical books to be added to the collection.

Physical Books (Stacks)

  1. Stamp the inside front cover with Fogler Library proprety stamp. If the inside from cover has printing, or is too dark, stamp the first blank page.
  2. If hardcover, use single sided tattle tape (white) and the metal shim to insert a tattle tape into the spine.
  3. If paperback, use double sided tattle tape (green) and place in gutter of random page.
  4. For books purchased with gifts funds (noted by flag in book). Glue the appropriate gift plate on the front flysheet.

Books with Maps

Note: Accompanying map(s) do not circulate independently.  The physical description field in the bib record should give some indication of the maps inclusion with the work.

  1. Pencil the call number on map(s) found in pocket.  Upper lefthand corner of front of map is preferred.
  2. Add label on back of book to count pieces and indicate SINGLE barcode. (This aids checkin process in Circulation)
  3. Add note to item record(s)

Example: Ecosystem Geography / Robert G. Bailey.
