Purpose:

This procedure is a sythesis of Ex Libris and Alma-L processes. This was developed specifically to address the issue of having a specific title that is included in a bound with volume also as a free standing item in the collection.

EXAMPLE of bound with using barcode: MMS ID# = ​991047154959708681

​ NOTE: The following steps are best done by FIRST pushing all the titles in your bound with volume to the MDE)

1. Select and open PARENT bib in MDE.

2. Create holdings: 

 ​ *use your PARENT call#

  *​create 501​ field Bound with​ volume contains: [PARENT]; [CHILD 1]; [CHILD 2]; [CHILD 3]​, [and more]

3. Create item; use your PARENT barcode

​ ​ *​In the public note field​ of the item add:​ (Bound-with volume)

4. Save PARENT bib, but don't release from the MDE​, as you may need again

5. Select the first CHILD title in your boundwith volume,​ and push/edit in the MDE

​6. Create a 7730 field in the bib records of EACH of the CHILD records with the following information:  

​     7730 $$i Bound with: $$t [PARENT TITLE] $$w [MMS ID for PARENT] $$g no: [BARCODE OF PARENT]

​7. Save and release ​all the records

​8. Remember​, Alma's overnight title-linking processes must run in order for the linked bibs to appear correct in ​Alma/Primo
