How to shutdown a frozen MacBook Pro without the power button.
Newer MacBook Pros do not have a power button. Follow the instructions below to shutdown your laptop.
Instructions
If you do have a power button:
- From the Apple menu select the Restart or Force Quit Command
- If you cannot click the Restart or Force Quit Command
- Hold down the Power Button for several seconds, until it turns completely off
- or Control plus Command keys and then press the power button.
- Your MacBook should shut down
- After which you should be able to restart your MacBook Pro
If you do not have a power button:

Press and hold Control and Command plus the Eject button
- If no Eject Button press the Touch ID button.
- Keep the buttons held down for about 10 seconds
- Your Mac's screen should go black
- After which you should be able to restart your MacBook Pro.
