Poly Studio

This article goes over how to use Poly Studio equipment and provides a list of rooms where it is available.

Instructions

The Poly Studio equipment, including the camera and speakers bar, as well as the remote. The camera bar is rectangular, about a yard long with a camera positioned in the middle and speakers on either side.

Accessing the Technology

In an appropriate web conferencing application, such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams, the system should automatically connect to the Poly Studio equipment.

If not, go to the application's settings and make sure both the microphone and camera are enabled and set to the correct device.

 

Using the Remote

 

The Poly Studio remote. Long and slim with a variety of buttons, described further below. Each set of buttons is labeled with a number.

 

[1] Volume

The top left paddle controls the volume. Hit the plus sign at the top to increase volume, and the minus sign at the bottom to decrease volume.

 

[2] Zoom

The top right paddle controls the camera's zoom feature. Hit the plus sign at the top to zoom in, and the minus sign at the bottom to zoom out.

 

[3] Manual Control Wheel

Below Volume and Zoom controls is a large ring with bumps on the top, bottom, left, and right. These are your manual controls. Pressing the wheel in any of the four directions will pan or tilt the camera in that direction.

Note: Automatic tracking must be disabled in order to use this feature.

 

[4] Home

The Home button is enter center of the manual control wheel. This resets the camera to its default position.

[5] Presets

Directly below the manual control wheel are two thin horizontal buttons on the left and right, labeled 1 and 2 respectively. These are the buttons for presets.

Giving one a short press will shift the camera's position to that button's saved preset.

Holding one of the buttons down for three seconds will save the camera's current position as that button's preset.

Note: Automatic tracking must be disabled in order to use this feature.

 

[6] Mute/Unmute

In the center of the remote is a triangular button with a crossed out microphone on it. This is the Mute button. Tapping this button with mute or unmute the Poly Studio's microphone.

 

[7] Bluetooth

Below the Mute button and to the left is a button with a Bluetooth symbol. Holding this button down allows Bluetooth devices to discover the Poly Studio device.

 

[8] Group Framing & Speaker Tracking

To the right of the Bluetooth button is a button with a target symbol on it. This button enables automatic tracking.

While enabled, the camera will automatically position itself to better frame groups of people. It will also automatically zoom in on an active speaker.

 

[9] Answer

Below the Bluetooth button, there is a button with an icon of a phone facing upwards. This will answer or resume an incoming call from Microsoft Skype.

 

[10] Hang Up

Below the Automatic Tracking button, there is a button with an icon of a phone facing down. This will hang up an active call.
