Add Windows Hello or Windows Hello for Business as Duo MFA Option

Windows Hello and Windows Hello for Business (WHfB) can be used as a Duo MFA device on compatible Windows platforms.

INFO: Please note WHfB does not replace signing into the portal or any other use of Single Sign On (SSO). It only acts as an alternate factor for the Duo MFA prompt.

Instructions

Enrolling Your Windows Hello or WHfB Device in Duo

  1. Navigate to the Duo multi-factor authentication management page.
  2. Select Manage Devices. Enter your @maine.edu email address. Screenshot showing the UMS Single Sign-On page.

  4. Click Continue and then authenticate with Windows Hello for Business via PIN or biometric method. You will get a confirmation message stating the Passkey is saved.Screenshot showing Windows confirming the passkey was saved after enrollment.
  5. Enrollment complete! On your next sign in, be sure to select Windows Hello.
