Zoom: Logging in via the Zoom desktop client application with SSO

A brief overview of account creation and logging into Zoom using SSO in the Windows or Mac desktop client for UMS Student, Staff, and Faculty.

INFO: Zoom on ChromeOS used to be fulfilled by a ChromeOS app, but it is being deprecated in August 2022 in favor of supporting the Zoom PWA (progressive web app), available from any web browser that supports PWAs.

Instructions

  • Step 1 - Launch the desktop application for Zoom from your computer.

  • Step 2 - On the sign-in screen, do not fill in the email field or password, but do select the option near the bottom that looks like a key and is titled "SSO:"

  • Step 3 - A browser window will open up to the UMS Single Sign-On page - sign in with your UMS username and password (the same credentials that you use to access Gmail, MaineStreet, the myCampus Portal, etc.)

    • If prompted for a Zoom domain, Enter "maine" in the space to the left of the ".zoom.us" prompt, as shown here:

  • Step 4 - You may be prompted by your browser to open Zoom Meetings - if so, click Open. Otherwise, click the button that shows Launch Zoom

At this point, you will now be logged into the Zoom desktop client using your UMS credentials.
