Resetting Chrome and Firefox to Default

If in-browser errors are not solved by clearing cache and cookies, or if the browser seems to be malfunctioning, resetting to default can be a viable option. 

WARNING: Explore other options like clearing cache & cookies as well as updating the browser before resetting or refreshing. Some data can be irretrievably lost after a reset.

Instructions

Resetting Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Click the three-dotted button in the upper right of the browser.
    1. For Chromebooks, Linux, and Macs: Click Reset settings > Restore settings to their original defaults > Reset settings.
    2. For Windows: Click Reset and cleanup > Reset settings to their original defaults > Reset settings.

Refreshing Firefox

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click the menu button (which looks like three horizontal lines stacked on top of one another).
  3. Select Help > More Troubleshooting Information > Refresh Firefox.
  4. Read through the pop-up window and click the confirmation button.
