Removing NoMAD Authentication Manager from macOS

Tags MacOS JAMF

NoMAD was a tool initially used for macOS as an alternative to binding to the UMS Active Directory system, UAD. It was designed to allow users to log into their workstations with UMS credentials and update filevault passwords when the password was changed.  NoMAD has been deprecated and needs to be removed from all workstations. If UMS logins are still required, JAMF Connect has been purchased for this need and is currently in the pilot process.

Instructions

  1. If your workstation has a login window with a UMS Logo or background, and you log in with your UMS credentials, NoMAD is installed and needs to be removed.
  2. Log into the computer and open the UMS Application Catalog from your dock.
  3. Search for NoMAD.
    1. If you are unsure if you have NoMAD, please contact your local IT office to check.
    2. If NoMAD does not appear, then you do not have it installed.
    3. If it does appear, click on run, which will remove the software and unload it from your computer.
  4. Reboot the computer once it has finished.
  5. Anytime you change your UMS password, the computer will not longer update this password until UMS IT rolls out JAMF Connect.
  6. If this is a lab mac and needs to allow for multiple logins, contact EUT to ensure JAMF Connect is in scope.

Environment

  • End-user device management, managed macOS computers, UAD Logins.
