Not Started Project Idea: University College Demographics

This article provides historical information regarding the proposed 2022 Data Governance project focused on developing simple methodology for accurately identifying University College Enrollment.

Detailed Information

There is currently no simple methodology for accurately identifying University College enrollment, and the demographic information of those students. Helene Turcotte, of UC Administration, is happy to assist in the development of new criteria and methods.

The current practice involves outdated criteria (needing updating) and Desktop Access database manipulation to identify an unduplicated set of enrolled UC students.

Students are identified as UC Online students by the following three methodologies and are run, then filtered for duplicates.

Method 1:

A query represents the number of enrollments in online courses of students who are simultaneously enrolled in an ITV, VC or Onsite course at a University College affiliated center or site.

Method 2:

A query represents the number of enrollments in online courses of UMA matriculated students, who have identified a center as a place where they plan to take most of their courses, and who are NOT simultaneously enrolled in an ITV, VC or Onsite course at any of the UC affiliated centers or sites. UMA is the only campus which labels students as belonging to a center.

Method 3: MaineStreet Support Data:

Years ago, Bill Gilfillan (and Emily Johnston) wrote an SQR (uma_uc_file_students_enroll_in_online_classes4.sqr), which identifies students who are taking a web class, and are served by a UC staff person in the areas of advising, cashiering, or enrollment, or are taking another class at a UC-affiliated center or site.
