Cisco Jabber softphone streamlines communications and enhances productivity by unifying presence, instant messaging, video, voice, voice messaging, screen sharing, and conferencing capabilities securely into one client on your desktop.  With a softphone the computer user has access to all the functions and features of a typical university office phone, including the ability to participate in automated call response systems such as used by telephone service centers.  There are limitations to the service, such as with 911 location reporting, and resource limitations, hence this service is provided only when needed to support a critical university business function.  The user's Campus IT Officer must approve each request for access to this service.
