How to Access

Project Initiation

The PMO is committed to facilitating the intake and review of all ideas and project requests for technology solutions that will support the strategic goals of the University of Maine System and enhance services to the UMS community. The PMO's role is to collect ideas and project requests and ensure they are considered and prioritized in a consistent and transparent manner.

Projects are reviewed and approved on several levels. As project Classification Level increases, so does the degree of project review and approval. Projects  originate from system-wide functional groups, campus departments, individuals, the Board of Trustees, etc.  Campus processes for approval vary. For system-wide projects, recommendation and approval paths include system-wide functional groups, the IT Service Management Committee, and the Shared Services Advisory Committee.  Projects greater than $500,000 require UMS Board of Trustees approval.

The first step towards proposing an IT project is to submit a Project Request by selecting the Request a Project button on the upper right of this screen.  The Project Request form helps to summarize information about the proposed project's objectives, requirements, estimated resources, schedule, and budget. The PMO is always available to provide guidance while a Project Request is being completed.

Please note that the form must be completed and submitted and information can not be saved as a draft.
