[MFA Modernization Pilot] Remove an MFA Sign-In Method from Your UMS Account

This article walks you through removing a multi-factor authentication (MFA) sign-in method from your University of Maine System (UMS) account, for example if you replaced a device or no longer use a method.

⚠️ WARNING: Keep at least one sign-in method on your account at all times. If you remove your only method, you may be locked out. If you lost the device for your only method, add a new method first, or contact the IT Service Desk for help.

Instructions

  1. Open a web browser and go to aka.ms/mysecurityinfo.
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. Under "Security info," find the method you want to remove and click Delete next to it.
  4. When prompted, click OK to confirm.
  5. If you lost a device, click Sign out everywhere (listed below your sign-in methods).
