All University of Maine System (UMS) students are eligible to enroll in Microsoft Entra Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This article explains how to check your enrollment status and get started.

Instructions

INFO: This article applies only to students. If you are an employee, contractor or consultant, or another account type (Person of Interest, retiree, or secondary account), see Check Your Duo MFA Eligibility and Enrollment Status instead.

Who Is Eligible for Entra MFA

All UMS users, including students, are eligible to enroll in Entra MFA, though not all users are required to enroll. Students who are not already enrolled in Duo MFA are required to enroll in Entra MFA.

Starting October 27, 2026, students enrolled in Entra MFA will receive MFA prompts when they sign in. For more information on when you will receive MFA prompts, see: MFA Sign-In Experience: What to Expect.
