Some older versions of the Chrome Browser used to install to Program Files(x86), when upgraded those versions are upgraded to v100, the updating of the Desktop short-cut link does not automatically occur. So after the user installs Chrome v100 from the Application catalog, if they launch Chrome from the Desktop, task bar short-cut or anywhere other than the Start menu it will launch the older version of Chrome still.
Solution
- Reboot the computer Make sure Chrome is not set to auto-launch after login
- Start Chrome from the Start menu (NOT the Desktop short-cut)
if Chrome is accidentally started from the Desktop short-cut first, then you will need to start over at step 1 again. This is because even after closing Chrome, it has background processes going that will prevent the new version from completing its final installation clean-up.
iEUT (End User Technology) has added Version 100 to the software catalog to make it easier to install in cases where Chrome has already been deleted from the machine and the customer has insufficient rights to install.
If this does not resolve the issue or if there are other issues with the installation of Chrome browser v100, escalate the ticket to EUT.
