Card swipe release at Xerox printers utilizes Transact. If Transact is down, then users have a couple of workarounds available to them to login to Xerox printers to release jobs. These login options can also be used if you forget your campus card.
Solutions
Work-around 1 requires going to a website first to get their ID code, but will result in faster logins for those who print often. Work-around 2 will take longer to enter the user ID and password at the device but may work well for someone who doesn't print much.
Workaround 1: Support ID Number Authentication
- Log into https://print.maine.edu and selects “Change Details” in the left menu
- Select “Generate number” button
- Note the 5-digit number generated, this number will be used in the step 5 below for login
- At the Xerox device, click the "Keyboard" icon on the Xerox Touch Panel
- User enters random ID Number generated in self-service
The user is authenticated on the device providing the same user experience. "Welcome, <user's name>!" will show in the upper left of the display panel once successfully authenticated.
Work-around 2: Users' login to the Xerox Panel with @maine.edu Username and Password
Click the "Keyboard" icon on the Xerox Touch Panel
User can enter @maine.edu Username with or without @maine.edu
@maine.edu password is enter and masked
The user is authenticated on the device providing the same user experience. "Welcome, <user's name>!" will show in the upper left of the display panel once successfully authenticated.
