Brightspace - Adding Users to Course (faculty)

Professors of a Brightspace course may wish to add users to their class without having them appear in Mainestreet. Most users are imported via the Mainestreet classlist, but professors have a limited capacity to add users with @maine.edu email addresses to their course(s) if desired.

Instructions

  1. From the navigation bar within the course, click "Classlist."
  2. Under "Enrollment Options," from the "Set all roles to" drop-down menu, select the role you want to assign the user you are adding to the Classlist. (Ex. TA, guest, etc.)
    1. The tool may be called "Add Participants"
  3. Under "Add existing user," use the Search function to look up their @maine.edu email address or first and last name. There are further customizations that can be made to the search function, but most users can be located using this method.
  4. In the search results list, click the check box by the name of the user you want to add, and then select a role for the user if you have not already done so.
  5. Click "Enroll Selected Users."
  6. Click "Done."
