Users at all seven University of Maine System (UMS) universities and the University of Maine School of Law can use the eduroam ("eduroam" SSID) Wi-Fi network UMS-wide or when traveling to another participating institution worldwide using their @maine.edu email address and password.
Eduroam is a federation of network authentication servers that allow users at participating institutions to access a WPA2 Enterprise encrypted (or "locked") Wi-Fi network with a common name (the "eduroam" SSID). Eduroam is a global service. To see participating institutions, please visit:
Instructions for how to connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network from a reMarkable 2 writing tablet are below.
Instructions
- Select "Settings" on the device, then select "Wi-Fi". If Wi-Fi is not yet enabled, enable it here
- Select "eduroam"
INFO: After selecting a network, you may be asked for a password to protect the credential storage on your device. This message would be from a security setting on your device, and is not prompting you for your Wi-Fi password. Please enter a memorable password to continue.
- For "EAP method," select "PEAP"
- For "Phase 2 authentication," select "MSCHAPV2"
WARNING: Do not enable "validation of certificate".
- Under "Identity," enter your UMS email address, including "@maine.edu" (i.e., "first.last@maine.edu")
INFO: Some devices may have an "Anonymous identity" field, which should be left blank.
- Under "Password," enter a password for your UMS account
- Select "Connect"
- Your device should now be connected to eduroam
INFO: You may now use the eduroam SSID at UMS universities or remote participating institutions globally, although access will be denied if your password is expired.
