Using Duo MFA Outside the United States

This article explains where Duo works and why access may be restricted in some locations.

Duo MFA works in most countries around the world. In general, you should be able to approve Duo login requests while outside the United States.

However, Duo access is blocked in countries and regions that are subject to restrictions from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). These restrictions are required by U.S. law and cannot be overridden by the University.

If you are unable to complete Duo authentication while abroad, your current location may be included on the OFAC restrictions list.

INFO: Using a VPN or changing networks does not bypass OFAC restrictions. Duo must comply with U.S. federal regulations regardless of how you connect.
