This article walks you through adding a new multi-factor authentication (MFA) sign-in method to your University of Maine System (UMS) account. MFA adds a second step to signing in, which helps keep your account secure.

WARNING: It is strongly recommended that you add more than one sign-in method to your account. If you lose access to your only method, you may be locked out. Adding a backup method ensures you can still sign in if your primary method is unavailable.
