Request/Change an Aux Account

Description

This service offering allows eligible users to request the creation of an Auxiliary (Aux) account. An Aux account is a secondary UMS ID linked to your primary UMS ID and is intended for use cases where alternative solutions, such as Google Groups, are not sufficient.

Aux accounts are no longer issued for group email use when a Google Group can meet the need (see: Google Group vs Aux Account). Requests for Aux accounts will be reviewed and approved based on specific technical or University needs.

Required Information

The following information is required when submitting this request. Please do not include any sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, student/employee IDs, passwords, or dates of birth. If such information is needed, IT staff will contact you directly.

  • Aux Account Owner: The intended owner of the Aux account
  • Campus: Campus affiliation of the account owner
  • Aux Account Uses: e.g., HIPAA Zoom acount, rename, delete, etc.
  • Requested Aux Account Name: Desired login name (e.g., campus.example@maine.edu)
  • Description: Detailed explanation of the intended use for the Aux account
