Change the FROM: name that appears on outgoing email

This document describes how to change the FROM: name that appears in an outgoing Gmail email.

Solution

  1. In your gmail inbox click the "Settings" icon (gear shaped icon in the upper right corner)
  2. Select "See All Settings"
  3. Select the "Accounts and Import" tab
  4. Click "edit info" link next to "Send mail as".
  5. You can now enter a different name and change the email address for replies to outgoing emails.
