Clearing Cookies and Temp Files

This article describes how to clear cache / cookies in multiple different browsers for both PC & Mac. Doing this can resolve browser issues such as being unable to login to the portal or other website. This can also help for non-UMS websites. 

Instructions

Firefox

1. At the top right of the Firefox window, click the Menu button, go over to the History menu and select Clear Recent History.
2. Click the drop-down menu next to Time range to clear: and choose everything.
3. Under History please make sure to have Cookies, Cache, and Active Logins selected.  
4. Finally, click the OK button and the window will close and the items you've selected will be cleared.

Chrome

1. At the top right of the Google Chrome window. click the Menu button , go over to the More Tools menu and select Clear Browsing Data. (It may also be its own entry further up the list depending on your Chrome version.)
2. Click the drop-down menu next to Time range and choose All time.
3. Please make sure to have Cookies and other site data and Caches images and files selected.  
4. Finally, click the Clear data button and the window will close and the items you've selected will be cleared.

Safari

1. At the top of the screen, click on History, then on the bottom click Clear History.
2. Click the drop-down menu next to Clear and choose all history.
3. Finally, click the Clear history button and the window will close and the items you've selected will be cleared.
4. In the Safari app on your Mac, choose Safari > Settings, then click Privacy.
5. Click Manage Website Data.
6. Select one or more websites, then click Remove or Remove All.

Edge

1. At the top right of the Edge window. click the Menu button  and select Settings.
2. Click on Privacy, search, and services from the list of options on the left-hand side under Settings.
3. Scroll down to Clear browsing data and click Choose what to clear.  
4. Change the Time range at the top to All Time and check the boxes next to Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files. Then, click Clear now.

Internet Explorer

1. At the top right of the Internet Explorer window, click the Gear button  and select Internet Options.
2. Near the bottom of the screen look for a Delete button and click it.
3. Click Temporary Internet files and Website files and Cookies and website data.  
4. Then, click Delete.

Opera

1. Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+H in Opera to open history page.
2. Click on Clear browsing data in the top-right corner.
3. Select what you want to delete and the time range should be set to all time.
4. Click Clear data.
