Issue / Question
How do I put a call on hold or resume it in the Webex App on desktop?
Solution
Place a Call on Hold
- While on an active call, click the More (⋯) button in the call window.
- Select Hold from the menu.
- The call will now show as “On Hold” in your Webex window or Spaces list.
- The other person will hear hold music until you resume or transfer the call.
Resume the Call
- Go to the held call (it will display “On Hold”).
- Click Resume to reconnect with the caller.
Transfer the Call Instead
- While the call is on hold, click More (⋯) again.
- Select Transfer.
- Search for or choose the person you want to transfer the call to.
- Once connected, you can either announce the transfer or complete it directly.
Quick Tips
- If you minimize the call window, look for the call labelled “On Hold” in your Spaces list.
- You can’t hang up a call while it’s on hold — you must resume it first.
- You can only place one call on hold at a time per line.
- When managing multiple calls, you can hold one and answer another, then switch back using Resume.
- Webex automatically mutes you while a call is on hold — make sure your headset or microphone stays active when resuming.
Environment
- Webex App (desktop)
- Windows or Mac
