What are the Above and Below the Line Residency Codes

Scope: This article will provide more information on the codes used for the various residency and exception data entry on the Residency Screen in Campus Solutions.

Purpose: This article supplies more information regarding the Official Residency Code, the Specific Case Residency Codes, and the Exceptions to the Residency Codes.

There are two main areas of the Residency Official 1 tab in MaineStreet, which are referred to as "Above the Line" and "Below the Line." Additional Residency Data is below the line

providing a visual representation of the various residency types location on the Residency Data screen. More detail of the residency types is listed in the article below.

In the visual above the Residency (#4) listed in the Official Residency Data Section is considered "Above the Line", and the Residency and Exceptions listed in the Additional Residency Data Section are considered "Below the Line". 

Above the Line Coding

Below are the field values with populate the Campus Solutions RESIDENCY_OFF - OFFICIAL RESIDENCY DATA Table based on the Residency value entered in the Residency cell (#4) in the Official Residency Data Section.

IS In-State Resident
OS Out-of-State Resident
CAN Canadian
NEBHE New England Regional Student Tuition Program
INTNL International
ONLIN Online

For example, the entry of In-State Resident will result in a field value of IS in the RESIDENCY field of the RESIDENCY-OFF table.

Below the Line Coding

Data entered into the Additional Residency Data Section is considered "Below the Line", and includes four different Specific Residency Types (Admissions, Tuition, Federal Fin Aid, and State Fin Aid) and four corresponding exception types.

Residency Type

shows the for specific residency types location on the left hand side of the Additional Residency Data Section of the Residency Official 1 tab in Campus Solutions.

Values below are for Admissions Residency (ADMISSION_RES), Financial Aid Federal Residency (FIN_AID_FED_RES), Financial Aid State Residency (FIN_AID_ST_RES) and Tuition Residency (TUITION_RES), and are entered in the left column under Additional Residency Data in the screen shown at left.  These values are used to describe a tuition rate different than the Residency field indicates.

MEONL Academic Partnerships - referred by AP to UMS with special online tuition: residency is maintained in the RESIDENCY field above the line.

Exceptions

showing the location of the below line exceptions in the right hand side of the Additional Residency Data Section on the Residency Official 1 Tab in Campus Solutions.

EXCEPTION values below are for Admissions Residency Exception (ADMISSION_EXCPT), Financial Aid Federal Residency Exception (FIN_AID_FED_EXCPT), Financial Aid State Residency Exception (FIN_AID_ST_EXCPT) and Tuition Residency Exception (TUITION_EXCPT), and are entered in the right column under Additional Residency Data in the screen at left.  These values describe the residency values in the corresponding fields on the left.
